"What will be the place of the association ?"

The association will not be a club to knock down the developers with. No either a carrot on a stick to seduce them. At the most it is a right arm for developers and  a megaphone for the others.

I assume certain actions have to be taken by an association. Such as the accounts, providing receipts. Partnerships and contracts with sponsors. Refunding travel expenses for conferences and exhibitions.
And unfortunately making complaints against tactless troublesome people who poison our life. We had to deal long ago with a schizophrenic who had registered the domain name www.freeguppy.com just to turn his nose up at GuppY while promoting another CMS.
We also have boors who take the GuppY copyright off. And even some evil doers appropriate the authorship and resell it for cheap.

I dare believe that the management of these several constraints will allow some relief on the existing structures which already deal with Guppy. I don't feel that GuppY would run better by absorbing existing entities.

"…to relieve the teams…"

I feel that the existing entities need an extra one by their side. My sole wish is to federate all GuppY users so that they too can come to feel useful and contribute to GuppY.

It's been said now and then that the team wouldn't be thankful enough, that all this was rather opaque, etc.
The association will make it possible to unveil all that's behind the scenes of our accomplishments.

It will make an open forum possible, which is to serve as a buffer zone between complainers and those who are concerned.

It is indeed harmful that some developers should have to put themselves ex-directory, change mobile number (and even move) because of harassment from users who ignore what voluntary work means.
And harmful it is that others, who have doggedly developed, should become targets for sharp criticisms.
And it is also a shame that you should have to make individual complaints against those who do prejudicial things.

"… Be the asso a shield……"

I have the hope that the asso be a shield for all those who feel too much exposed;  my it keep alive the urge for generosity and selflessness like it's been already the case among the team.

Jean de Peyrat has been many a time the arm, the head and the legs of an informal association not yet really in existence. I believe that Jean will go on being an helpful and outstanding man. I guess he will like it that that we offer to help him in all his actions which stayed so discreet and yet so important.

In spite of some times when the GuppY Team has been breaking up, we have been able to witness acts of brotherhood within it.

Still and all, It is thanks to him and recent events that I have taken the bull by the horns and dug up the unfinished manuscripts from their deep sleep – a three-year-slumber –

"…be the asso a factor of solidarity"

I have the hope that the asso be festive, merry and lavish particular attentions to the individuals - who have often sacrificed some, or a lot of their family life – and who, through GuppY, are so dear to us, and that it be thankful to their families to have stood  this.

I have the hope that the asso will be compassionate and selfless towards the needy and powerless ones.

And so may the asso be for the greater number, the relay of worthy offers and deals.

"… from now on, we will not be alone …"

I have a dream ...

...that one day on the red hills of Silicon Valley, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former
slaveowners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.

I have a dream ...

...that one day even the state of North, a desert state, sweltering with the heat of injustice and oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream ...

...that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged for the choice of their softwares, but by the content of their creations.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream ...

...that one day the continent of North, whose governor's lips are presently dripping with the words of
software patentability and Digital Rights Management, will be transformed into a situation where little "GNU/Linux"boys and girls will be able to join hands with little "Mac" and "Windows" boys and girls and walk together as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today.

I have a dream ...

...that one day every source shall be set up free, every type and patent shall be made available, the rough
places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight, and the glory of Freedom shall be
revealed, and all flesh shall see it together.

This is our hope.

This is the faith with which I step into the "Free World". With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to code
together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be
free one day.

This will be the day when all children will be able to sing with a new meaning :

Chorus
"Join us now and share the software;
You'll be free, hackers, you'll be free."
bis

"Hoarders may get piles of money,
That is true, hackers, that is true.
But they cannot help their neighbors;
That's not good, hackers, that's not good."

Chorus x2

"When we have enough free software
At our call, hackers, at our call,
We'll throw out those dirty licenses
Ever more, hackers, ever more."

Chorus x2

Let freedom ring...eek

HubbY.pngBorn to be alive  -  by HubbY
The four corollaries of free software :

1. GNU GPL would only be a void list of promises without softwares.
2. Softwares would only be lifeless shells without users.
3. Nobody can't help ambitious project to go on without being ready to hand them over.
4. Nobody could lastingly carry on with the inventor's project not being a member of an association.

Many think this is just a matter of programmer's work; and that you must hope that programmers have the same needs as you. And then, once the ideal software has been discovered, you'd better pray that it keeps up to date and proves to be everlasting.
The most far-sighted ones will have more than one string to their bow by choosing several similar softwares just in case...

Thus, willing to avert all these fatalistic ideas, "we", Guppy users, have decided to join into an association named "freeGuppy".
